While there are no four-letter words or romantic tensions, this does not make the show any more appropriate for children, much less preschoolers. Fun fact: the late 1980s and early 1990s were the era when helicopter parenting and organized play dates became a thing; Barney was allegedly behind the notion that kids are not mini-adults and need no rivalry between friendships, and therefore apparently kids need ultra-supervision and sameness in personality.
