All Jason and Nikki want is a baby, but it's the one thing they just can't have. So, they decide to adopt. With their dysfunctional friends, screwball family and chaotic lives will the adoption panel think they're ready to be parents?
I thoroughly enjoy the everyday life stories depicted in this show. The main characters face setbacks, disappointments, and missed opportunities, just like we do in our lives. However, they still embody the simplest yet most precious acts of kindness and love, which are revealed through the details in their everyday life. Moreover, I was pretty moved by Nikki's concern about raising a boy and Jason's late-night soccer practice.
It mainly focuses on portraying what a strong and resilient relationship looks like, with adoption being an additional challenge in their lives.
The reconciliation between the characters in the third season's final episode doesn't quite compensate for the overall poor execution of the entire season. Many issues among the characters were merely glossed over instead of truly resolved. However, perhaps that's how things happen in reality, where problems tend to fade away over time. My rating might seem slightly lower, but I had high hopes for this show. While it thoroughly discusses the topic of adoption, I think the show primarily aims to showcase and explore what individuals in their 30s would do when facing pivotal moments and crises in their lives. The characters are incredibly well-developed and endearing.
All in all, this show lives up to my expectations. It delves into more realistic topics and portrays everyday life stories at a perfect pace. When depicting the challenges of parenthood, the more authentic, the better. Simply presenting surface-level happiness to satisfy the status quo is not sufficient. I eagerly anticipate more growth stories for the two main characters in the upcoming season.
I'm really impressed with how fast-paced and visually stunning this show is. While the main storyline revolves around nurturing the next generation, it also explores midlife crisis. For those constantly seeking change and progress, you've definitely put in the effort, and kudos to you. Moreover, I was truly moved by the scenes where the male lead and his ex-girlfriend have a heartfelt conversation by the river.
