In Disclaimer, acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, portrayed by Cate Blanchett, has built her career on uncovering the wrongdoings of others. This is the typical fancy garbage from streaming services. The monologues are everywhere, and Alfonso Cuarón clearly doesn’t give a damn about the characters; everyone’s just a puppet he can manipulate. The last episode is the worst of all—it's like he ran out of ideas and just dumped a bunch of plot twists on us. It's laughable. It feels like a really fancy soap opera. Alfonso Cuarón’s technique is undeniably top-notch, but the story is just too bland, leaving me really disappointed. And seriously, I’ve got to give a heads-up to the ladies out there—don’t take nude photos for anyone! It can lead to a world of trouble!
This drama is really top-notch, blending cinematic and literary elements perfectly. The narrative structure is both complex and beautifully crafted. The use of tracking shots totally channels the style of 'Children of Men,' while the erotic scenes pay homage to 'And Your Mother Too.'
