The plot progresses slowly, and the gangster theme isn't exactly my cup of tea, so I only watched the series in fragments. Yet the impeccable props, sets, and music typical of BBC productions kept drawing me back. Beyond the exquisite presentation and charismatic malevolence, there's much that adds to the series' allure.
Apart from the storyline, everything else about the show is commendable – the cinematography, soundtrack, acting, and even the sartorial choices of the gangsters are impressively chic. While being compared to the Boardwalk Empire is inevitable, the British series wins my heart this time round.
excelente serie con actores y actrices versátiles y bien ambientada una historia fascinante
Piecing together fragments to create an illusion of a cohesive story, various emotional developments feel abrupt, and various romances seem to come out of nowhere. It's not that love can't blossom, and I'm not opposed to their whirlwind romances, but lacking details and stellar performances to support the conflicts and contrasts between the opposing sides fail to make the tangled romantic affairs soar.
Only BBC could produce such a high-quality gangster series. The plot isn't the main focus; it's the cinematography, visuals, and costume design that really captivate me. The Shelby family, from the four brothers to Aunt Polly, are truly good-looking.
