This movie is absolutely captivating. Typically, movies adhere to a formula, but we have films like this because we can't encounter those same "formulas" in real life. The true devil isn't the woman with silver hair but rather the Prada outfit she's sporting.
I might have caught a glimpse of it when I was a kid, but now that I'm rewatching it, I can understand a lot more. This movie merely scratches the surface of fashion, while it actually delves deeper into the challenges young women encounter, like work, love, and lifestyle choices. What's really intriguing is how it delicately portrays the dynamic between a female mentor and her apprentice. They're like travelers passing through each other's lives, mutually benefiting from their encounters before parting ways on their own separate journeys.
This is a genuine fashion-focused movie with a twist that takes place in the real workplace. It explores finding another path to achieving dreams, staying true to your original aspirations, the damaging impact of work on life, and having the guts to let go of what you have to chase what you truly desire. Behind those glamorous jobs, there might be intense pressures that are hard to handle. The two female leads are portrayed exceptionally well and are multi-dimensional characters. They both pretend to be strong and try to hide their vulnerabilities, while the key difference lies in whether they will go to any lengths to achieve their goals.
So, the movie's basically about Andrea trying out new stuff, figuring herself out, and becoming the person she really wants to be. And the only villain in the whole thing? Capitalism, of course: NOT MIRANDA! WE LOVE MIRANDA! Plus, Anne Hathaway totally nails the whole "bad dresser to makeover queen" thing.
"Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.".Ok, this is sort of a comedy thingy that turned out to be, as we say where I'm from, an actual big-dog fight of cinema legends, old and new. Anne Hathaway was in no way overtaken by Meryl Streep, and they were able to play off of each other in a way as to deliver this film that shoots right through the sweet spot they were going for, and then some. Quotable, stylish, *a gay-arse Stanley Tucci*, even a Gisele Bündchen cameo. Literally. What the hell else?
