Superhéroe Del Celuloide's review about A Series of Unfortunate Events(2004)

The series of books were a big thing for me at childhood, we read them at school. Jim Carrey was the perfect choice for this role, and the series is overall great. But I did like Neil Patrick Harris version as well, it is underrated.

A beautiful film in every sense of the word. The lovely gothic visual style is on par with the story, full of dark humor, the characters are very endearing, and the music is just great. It's one of my favorite fantasy films.

From a Count Olaf fan.An achievement in art direction and production design in general, not to mention the star-studded cast who deliver incredible performances. Jim Carrey usually irks me when he's funny, but Count Olaf's role in this incredibly written adaptation was made to measure for none other than himself. Meryl Streep, of course, makes the absolute most of her too-short time on screen. It's a memorable and highly quotable film with a melancholic but hopeful tone.
