Visualmente majestuosa.

Portraying such a monumental event in human history as a film is not about 'one giant leap,' but rather about 'one small step.' An ordinary man, caught between the pressures of career and family, stretched to his breaking point, is propelled by his nation and society to the forefront of turmoil. Hesitation and determination, pain and endurance, emptiness and solace—Armstrong's complex characterization deepens the film's outlook, transcending simple spectacle and melodrama. One might even argue that the film's ultimate emotional endpoint is one of doubt and negativity. See, for example, the post-moon landing scene, with televised news juxtaposed against longing gazes through windows. The world only remembers your brilliance on the moon, and nobody cares about your sacrifices on Earth. The tremendous sacrifices ultimately serve political agendas, and anysadness remains yours to bear.
This film provides a softer and more private perspective on the moon landing. It boasts remarkable sound design, handheld cinematography, and ample subjective viewpoints to minimize the distance between the viewers and on-screen characters. As a result, the successes and failures of missions are particularly gripping, butoccasionally overdramatic. The final sentimental flourish also falls into cliché. The perspectives of family and society add depth to the film but somewhat diminish the emotional impact. It should garner numerous Oscar nominations in technical categories: sound, cinematography, score, and editing are all exceptional.
An "anti-hero" film that narrates the journey of an ordinary man, fueled by national prestige. He endures the loss of a daughter, friends, familial opposition, and public skepticism, only to succeed due to luck. He isn't a hero; he simply executes his tasks with a sense of inevitability, and by some stroke of luck, he survives, becoming inadvertently immortalized in history. In an era brimming with space fervor, the political significance of the space race far outweighs its scientific implications.
Chazelle's third film doesn't impress....It's good, but if we compare it to the other two great Damien Chazelle productions, this is the worst. His great success is not to romanticize or highlight the milestone of the first trip to the moon, but instead prefers to focus on the protagonist's personal and family conflicts. However, it becomes very long, not delving into key characters and constantly resorting to ellipsis in support of the plot, which only hinder the coherence of the story.
