A hallmark, if only in coining Del Toro as a bad guy.Biased review alert, this is one of my all-time favorites. I watched it even before I fully understood what the actual sbject was, but on a cinematographic level, I could somehow ~feel it was a GREAT film. The use of color and lighting is just unique for the time, and creates a language of its own, not to mention the uber-level cast (I think this is when I started type-casting Benicio Del Toro forever as a pasty, sleazy con-man type, totally not my fault) and writing. The pacing is incredibly calculated. In case you're wondering, yes, I did watch it again later on and understand the context: I still re-watch it to this day. It's a fantastic movie, nothing else needs to be said.
