Let Girls be Whimsical: How the Minecraft Movie and the Entertainment Industry Fail Women

A few weeks ago, I saw the Minecraft movie at long last. Was it a good movie? No. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely. I watched the movie in a local theatre with my best friend and 4 other people. It was great! We cheered every time there was an iconic line from the trailer, like “Flint and Steel”, or “I am Steve”, or even the infamous “Chicken Jockey”. (We did not throw popcorn at the screen because we a

Matthew Alan Schmidt: The female characters in this movie got shafted so hard. The writers just had them go off and play house while the boys went on the actual adventure.

You're Missing the Point of The Last of Us

The internet really pisses me off sometimes. Watching season two of The Last of Us week by week has definitely been an experience. I've never played the video games that the show is based on, so everything that happened in the first three episodes has been a complete surprise. I would suggest that you keep it that way if you can. There will be spoilers here, but not just yet. I have some stuff I n

MovieZone: I am a gamer and in fact very faithful to the game and I understand the people who feel that Joel is the main character, and it is as you mention, it is because of the charisma they have for Pedro, however those of us who have played the video games know that the main character in the first game is Joel and the affection they have for him is because it is not the same to see season 1 which lasts about 8 hours, than to play with the character for about 40 hours (this for those who have only played the first game). Now if you have completed the second game you will understand that Abby is not a villain, just one side of the same coin q Ellie .... Abby avenged her father and Ellie in the second game seeks revenge on Abby, both seek to avenge her father, but one is accustomed to, let's call it that way, team 1.

The Minecraft Movie Is a Gloriously Stupid Trainwreck (But I Kinda Loved It)

Maybe it’s the 10mg edible and BIG glass of wine I had in the tank, but honestly? A Minecraft Movie wasn’t half bad. It probably helped that I saw this in a 19+ theatre where most people were there at least semi-ironically. It felt like most of the laughs were aimed at the movie rather than with it — though, to be fair, a surprising number of jokes actually landed (considering my expectation was t

Lucas.: I can't believe you actually watched this and took the time to write this in-depth review. Also, I will not tolerate any Megalopolis slander.

Favourite Video Game Adaptation?

With A Minecraft Movie just over a month away from its theatrical release, I still find myself wondering if I will end up watching it. The last video game adaptation I watched was The Super Mario Bros Movie., which was a total flop for many. This had me reflecting on what my favourite video game adaptation is. I’m going to go with Gran Turismo. How about you?

Keanen Tregaskis: The last of us. One of the few video game adaptations done well.

What Video game deserves its own movie or show?

With the new season of The Last of Us just around the corner and the premiere of The Minecraft Movie also close to release, I'm curious to hear what videogame other people would like to see make its splash in a new form of media. For me, it would have to be a Red Dead Redemption show. Loved playing both the games and both (especially the second one) already have a great cinematic feeling and would seemlessly transition into a TV show. I would also love to see a new fanbase swarm to this show and would love to see thier reactions to the emotional rollercoster that this wild west era game presents.

Lucas.: I agree with RDR, but I'd want to see it as a movie. I also think the story of GTA 4 would make for a great adaptation
