WThe last time I watched M3 was in 2009 when I was just in high school. To be honest, I basically didn't understand the whole movie for the first time. The only thing I paid attention to was the relationship between Conan and Ran. Revisiting it after 10 years, I was pleasantly surprised, but also accompanied by a lot of emotion.
It should be said that M3 is one of the few theatrical editions with a heavy sense of history among all theatrical editions so far. The film starts with the Easter egg of the Russian royal family - the Egg of Memories. The bright line is the protagonist group looking for another Easter egg, and the dark line (Allah line) is the past love between the heroine Natsumi's grandfather and grandmother. As well as the review of the family's historical memory, and through Conan's perspective, it is pointed out that she is a descendant of the Romanov family.
I saw some comments criticizing the chaotic relationship between characters in M3, especially the relationship between Natsumi’s family. The arrangement with the director is very reasonable, and historical hints or hints are constantly added between different scenes, intentionally or unintentionally guiding the audience to recall that period.
In the climax of the plot, two easter eggs are combined to show the historical heritage and memory of the entire family through light. The ending implies that the heroine Natsumi is a descendant of the Romanov dynasty. It can be considered that the historical trauma can be healed in the Conan movie version , This is also my biggest impression of watching the M3 for the second time after ten years.
I saw some comments criticizing the chaotic relationship between characters in M3, especially the relationship between Natsumi’s family. The arrangement with the director is very reasonable, and the ending implies that the heroine Natsumi is a descendant of the Romanov dynasty, which can be regarded as making up for the regrets of history in the Conan movie version.
However, most viewers don’t really understand the Russian Revolution, especially the history of the October Revolution, and what happened to the Romanov family only stayed in the “beating the local tyrants and dividing the land” "Layer. The official history textbooks have always portrayed the Romanov family as a villain group, so that students in the mainland have always misinterpreted that period of history.
In the simplest terms, during the World War I, the February Revolution broke out in Imperial Russia with the support of hostile forces outside the country, and the revolutionaries overthrew the imperial regime and supported it in the House of Representatives (Duma) Next, a provisional government was established and a Constituent Assembly was elected.
In the Constituent Assembly, democrats hold the majority. At this time, the Romanov family was only deposed from the throne, but their lives and property were still preserved. Later, the Red Party (the main "Sheviks") launched a coup, almost all of the Romanov family was executed by the Bolsheviks, and one of the daughters (that is, the great-grandmother of the M3 heroine) disappeared. After the October Revolution broke out, the Russian Constituent Assembly was forced to dissolve.
It should be said that the "trauma" of this period of history to the Russians and even the entire Slavs is far greater than "sense of accomplishment", especially after the Cold War. If it is said that the material loss can be made up for through future development, the scars of cultural faults still remain on the Russians today. Regarding this period of history, literary works include Shokhorov's "Quiet River Don" and Boris Pasternak's "Doctor Zhivago", both of which describe that period of history and that generation Encounter: In the face of the torrent of history, both dignitaries and ordinary people are washed away like ants.
The missing daughter of the Romanov family became the source of creation of later literature, film and games ("Assassin's Creed: Russia"). Apart from the commercial factors, many creators are all trying to create a happy ending for the missing daughter, so as to make up for a regret left by that era. In this regard, the director and screenwriter of M3 are no exception.
The relationship between Japan and Russia are full of endless grievances and entanglements in modern times. At the end of the 19th century, the two countries fought openly and secretly for the colonies in Northeast China until the Russo-Japanese War broke out in 1904. After the Russo-Japanese War, the two countries cooperated closely again. During that time, Russia purchased large quantities of Japanese industrial equipment, and many Japanese technicians went to Russia to help the poor. The heroine of M3 probably went to Russia at that time, and got acquainted with the Romanov family.
In general, M3 has the strongest sense of history in the theatrical version over the years. I also followed the Conan protagonist group to recall the era full of change at the end of the last century . But this theatrical version is also a bit challenging for the audience. If you don't have a general understanding of the turbulent history around 1900, you won't resonate with many implied plots. But this does not prevent it from becoming a classic theatrical version.
Many people may think that I have over-interpreted the intentions of screenwriters and directors, but there has always been a saying in the field of literature that “the author is dead”.
