The mother of dragons chose blue to commemorate her first husband, Khal Drogo, known as the "Horse King".
The Dothraki have more than one khalasar (=tribal), and the khals (=tribal leaders) use different colors to distinguish each other. Blue is the color of the Khal Drogo tribe, and another khal that appears later uses brown (right).

Blue is not as readily available in nature as brown. The designers explained that the blue color can be extracted from crushing ore, which realistically grows in hot and humid environments. Given that the Dothraki grasslands are generally hot but not humid, these plants only grow sporadically in the few places where moisture is more plentiful.
It is not easy to obtain to highlight the noble status. Khal Drogo will paint his body in blue on important occasions such as weddings. But all the above are set in the show, not the book.

Khal Drogo's golden belt was a tribute from the free city-state. The totem of the horse was engraved on the disk, of which the workmanship was exquisite. Obviously, it was not made by the rough Dothraki.

There is a famous scene in the first season. Khal Drogo melted the golden belt to create a golden crown for Viserys. As we can see, the moment of his coronation is also the time of returning home.
Dothraki men judge each other by the length of their hair. In every fight, the loser cuts off the braids and accepts the humiliation. Judging from the length of the braid, in addition to his face and figure, Khal Moro's force value is also far inferior to Drogo who has never tasted defeat.

In the original novel, the loser of the Dothraki contest cuts his braids, and the winner has to hang small bells on his braids. Jason Momoa, who playred Khal Drogo, revealed that they considered following the original book, but the hair full of bells is not scary but funny, and it is too noisy.
So it was replaced with a metal ring. The mother of dragons continued the decoration from the wedding in the first episode to the blue dress period.
