Armageddon

The movie opens with a meteor shower devastating New York City, setting the stage for the impending threat of an asteroid named "Dottie" that is on a collision course with Earth. NASA discovers that the asteroid is the size of Texas and will wipe out all life on the planet if it strikes. In a race against time, NASA recruits Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis), a veteran oil driller, and his team to train as astronauts and accompany them on a mission to drill into the asteroid and plant the nuclear bomb.

Harry's team includes his hot-headed protege A.J. Frost (Ben Affleck), who is in love with Harry's daughter Grace (Liv Tyler), as well as a quirky group of roughnecks who bring their own unique skills to the mission. Despite initial skepticism from the NASA team led by Dan Truman (Billy Bob Thornton), Harry and his crew undergo rigorous training to prepare for the dangerous mission ahead.

As the asteroid draws closer to Earth, tensions rise within the team as they face numerous challenges and setbacks during their journey to the asteroid. Along the way, they encounter unexpected dangers, including losing one of their crew members in a tragic accident. Despite the odds stacked against them, the team perseveres and manages to reach the asteroid, but not without facing further obstacles that put their mission in jeopardy.

As time runs out, Harry makes the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the success of the mission, saying a heartfelt goodbye to his daughter and leaving A.J. to take care of her. With emotions running high, A.J. and the remaining crew members complete the drilling operation and successfully plant the nuclear bomb deep within the asteroid.

In a heart-pounding climax, the bomb is detonated, splitting the asteroid in two and saving Earth from destruction. The film ends with a bittersweet victory as the world celebrates the heroes who sacrificed their lives to save humanity. A.J. returns to Earth and reunites with Grace, fulfilling his promise to Harry.
