The Life of Chuck is a Film That Will Remind You To Enjoy Life

The Life of Chuck opens in June 13 and its directed, written and edited by Mike Flanagan and stars Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan and Mark Hamill and its based on the short story of the same name by Stephen King and it follows the story of Charles Krantz, a middle aged man whose past, presente and future converged and it fullfills the live of others

The film is so unique, it‘s so enduring and it‘s so great to see how the director Mike Flanagan loved to making this movie. I was able to attend the special screening of the movie with Mike doing a round of questions and I even get the time to talk with him.

This story meant so much for his kids and for Stephen, it‘s a story where all the good combines in a such unique and special way. The script offers so much depth, about the things we can do in life, and we never get to experienced it again. It has supernatural elements, some crazy work camera techiniques and a really well made score. The film is divided in 3 chapters and it‘s told from the ending to the beginning, such a unconventional way to tell it, but it was adapted to Mike.

The characters are nuanced, grounded and the performances make it worth while. Every actor that appears on screen is giving his all to make the film work and Mike is a stupendous director on how to frame the actors correctly.

The motto of the film is “Live your life and enjoy the little things“, this movie will carry on with you until you get older. The cinematography in this film is outta of this world, employing so much in the framing, the shot and the movements of the camera to make it unique enough.

Mike also told the audience that this film was made with little money, almost no financing and every actor he approached, they told him “Yes!“ even they didnt‘t have the funds to do it, but this when Neon came onboard during TIFF.

Probably, speaking too much about it, will break the experience, but The Life of Chuck is the most personal project to Mike and it shows in the way he crafted everything, every piece has a reason with it.
