Biography

"My mom taught me to live by the three p's: to always be passionate, persistent, and prepared." Hailee Steinfeld emerged as a prominent figure in contemporary Hollywood with her breakthrough role as Mattie Ross in "True Grit" (2010), earning her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress at age 14. Born in 1996 in Los Angeles, she trained in acting from an early age, attending several short-term acting programs and receiving on-set experience from early television appearances. Known for her composed screen presence and expressive restraint, Steinfeld has worked across genres, from the coming-of-age drama "The Edge of Seventeen" (2016) — which earned her a Golden Globe nomination — to mainstream blockbusters like "Pitch Perfect 2" (2015) and "Bumblebee" (2018). She expanded into television with the lead role in "Dickinson" (2019–2021), portraying the poet Emily Dickinson in a stylized, modern interpretation of historical fiction. More recently, she joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kate Bishop in "Hawkeye" (2021) and voiced Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" (2018) and its sequels. Steinfeld is also active in music, releasing several EPs and singles, often blending pop sensibilities with themes of empowerment.
