Brandy Rayana Norwood is an American singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and model whose formation began as a backing vocalist for teen groups after relocating from Mississippi to Carson, California. Her vocal development was shaped by her father Willie Norwood, a gospel singer and choir director, through participation in church performances and a cappella gospel singing. After signing with Atlantic Records, she transitioned between music and television, starring in the UPN sitcom Moesha while releasing albums. She expanded into film with Cinderella and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, later moving into production by co-creating and co-executive producing projects including Zoe Ever After.
