David Morse began his acting development through participation in the Boston Repertory Company for six years; he then moved to New York to join the Circle Repertory Company. His transition into screen acting began around 1980 with a theatrical film debut, and he achieved greater visibility through a long-term television role as Dr. Jack Morrison in St. Elsewhere. He has chosen varied supporting roles across film and television, including adaptations of Stephen King works. On television, he accepted recurring roles—earning Emmy nominations—for distinct characters such as Detective Michael Tritter in House. Morse has maintained parallel activity in stage performance, receiving multiple Off-Broadway awards, later returning to Broadway and earning a Tony nomination for The Iceman Cometh.
