Storyline:  The film, based on a play by August Wilson and set in Pittsburgh during the 1950s, tells the story of a working-class african-american father who struggles with racial prejudice as he tries to lead his family. He is also shaped by the shadow of his own father, who influences the way he relates to his children. An intense film, with great performances by Viola Davis and Denzel Washington, director and co-star, who reprises the character he had already played on Broadway.
