Storyline:  Set in 1913, in what historically was the prelude to World War I, the story focuses on a german town where the community experiences strange events. This drama about the roots of fascism was nominated for an Oscar. Director Michael Haneke creates a suffocating yet fascinating atmosphere, a film that plays with ambiguity and with what is not shown on screen but is deeply felt.
