Persepolis (2007)

During Iran's Islamic revolution, nine-year-old Marjane finds herself in the middle of a society transformed by religious rule. As political repression intensifies and war breaks out, she grows up in search of identity and freedom, which clash with authority as she confronts her personal problems and the realities of life under an authoritarian regime, which for a woman is not just in one country.
