The series marks a new chapter in the lives of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, a different stage from the one they went through in Sex and the City (1998-2004). With New York still at the centre of their lives, the friends go through various challenges and struggles, but they always have each other's unconditional friendship and advice. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprise their iconic characters who made such a mark on TV in the first decade of the 21st century and whose relevance remains to this day.
The spirit of the series has changed from the high morale of "fighting against all odds" of the first season to a "companionable" one this time. Both the return of "Aidan" and the one-minute cameo of "Samantha" continue to reward the audience for sticking with the show until now, as a kind of easter egg; but what's even more valuable is the honest, valuable, and rare examination of the three main characters. The show still suffers from trying to balance between the new, the old, and the returning characters, as well as applying the occasional "buzzword" within the plot; but the answers given by everyone at the dinner table in the finale offer a glimpse of how much better it could have been. Watch it as a "new show" and you'll be pleasantly surprised; watch it as the original "Season 8" and you might be unsatisfied.
They teach you how to reconcile with yourself at 30 when you're a teenager, and show you what it's like to be 50 when you're middle-aged. The image may be incomplete, full of loopholes, and even full of sensibilities of middle-aged women, but maybe it's another proof that even the most trendy people and things can be swallowed up by the waves of time. So try to think of it as a "message" rather than a "bible" and you'll be willing to forgive these women.
And just like that... the girls are back.We are facing a successful and complete update exercise. Perfectly preserving the essence of its protagonists, this new installment of episodes places them in the complex reality of the society in which we find ourselves today. A completely elegant set-up according to the age that its protagonists enjoy; and equally attractive to viewers.
