MAE2497's review about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness(2022)

The overly complex multiverse leads to a convoluted narrative with hastily built settings where even the mightiest characters meet their end abruptly. Surreal performances hinder character development. The random and fleeting genre elements and Marvel's typical jarring comedic inserts do not help. The musical battle stands out as the only creative fight scene.

Post-Endgame Marvel films share a commonality: the trailers appear promising yet the actual film is disappointing. If not for the popularity of the Avengers, no one would be looking forward to this movien.

Ever since Marvel introduced the "multiverse" high concept, it seems all too casual about its approach — it appears inconsequential how characters die since countless other universes may contain infinite iterations of them. This is why post-Avengers: Endgame, the emotional impact of significant events, such as the death of Tony Stark, has been severely undermined, making me feel numb to the demise of my beloved characters.

A standard run-of-the-mill Marvel film featuring plenty of special effects and a packed plot that tends to rush its pacing. The female antagonist becomes increasingly maniacal after all her previous appearances. The male lead, Dr Stephen Strange, is tired and overwhelmed throughout, ultimately prevailing through sheer wit.
