SURPRISED! Not only does it draw on Wes Craven in terms of gore, scares, and entertainment, it also manages to create a new generation of Scream. The director speaks through the characters, discussing propositions like "how to survive in a horror movie" and turning the first four films into "movies within movies”, which deconstructs, ridicules and rebels against the film itself and the formula of the horror genre. It also pays homage to the classics.
