It’s fair to say I was pretty excited for “Morbius”, not that I thought it would be good but I was pretty excited to see how Sony coped with a non Spider-Man related project. Well, it’s fair to say they didn’t cope well…at all. “Morbius” is the most boring Marvel film to date and that’s sad as Matt Smith is genuinely great in it, and Leto isn’t too bad himself, working quite well as the character. Under the hands of a more competent director/studio, the character could really be something, nevertheless it really suffers from bad CGI, and a character you truly don’t care about comes to its conclusion. It’s a darker vampiric twist on the superhero origin story, but sadly it’s nothing but a formulaic tale that’s all bark and no bite. A flat, dull mess of a blockbuster that feels like a throwback to Marvel’s dark ages, committing the cinematic sin of being unfathomably boring and nothing but dull, with two awful post credit scenes and a “hero” you really don’t root for throughout. “A new Marvel legend arrives”…no, no it certainly does not.
