The Mummy series, as the ancestor of tomb raiding adventure movies, is generally loved by everyone around the world, but the holy land described by the Mummy series -- native Egyptians, are very disgusted by this film, basically to the point of becoming disinterested in talking about it. Imhotep is named after a real historical figure, whose original name was Immutef [Ii-em-HotepImhotep]. Immutef was the royal physician of the famous pharaoh Zusel in the Third Dynasty of Egypt around 2980 BC. He was once the Great Vizir [equivalent to prime minister], judge, minister of agriculture, and director of construction [equivalent to foreman]. Immutef was a very rare figure in the history of ancient Egypt who was made a god by later generations. Unlike pharaohs who claimed the name of God, Immutef was a real genius who was revered as a god in the worship and love of later generations. He was a priest, a writer, a doctor, and a founder of Egyptian astronomy and architecture.
His first position was as High Priest of Heliopolis. Accounts of Heliopolis often appear in pyramid texts. It was the center of the worship of the sun god in ancient Egypt, also known as the "home of the gods" (equal to Mount Olympus in Greek mythology), which shows the high status of Immutef.
Immutef was born to the common people, and he was worshipped by the nobility and the common people for his extraordinary wisdom and erudition.
