
Warner Bros. is having a stellar summer: for the fourth week in a row, Barbie remains at the top of the box office. Over the past weekend, the film directed by Greta Gerwig raked in another $33.7 million in the United States, boosting its domestic earnings to $526.3 million – making it the highest-grossing film directed by a woman in the country's history.
If Barbie can earn an additional $48 million by the end of its run in US theaters, it will surpass Super Mario Bros. The Movie become the highest box office gross in the country for 2023.
In second place, closely following the film starring and produced by Margot Robbie, Oppenheimer continues to impress audiences. This week, the title added another $18 million to its earnings, surpassing the $264.2 million mark in the US and $649 million worldwide.
Rounding out the podium, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem secured the bronze medal, collecting another $15.7 million in its second weekend.
Among the week's debuts, The Last Voyage Of The Demeter, a period horror film from Universal, opened with $6.5 million, and the Indian film Jailer with $2.5 million.
