The new DC film "Blue Beetle" is released in North America today. Positioned in the newly crafted DC universe under the guidance of James Gunn, what are the interesting details in the trailer? Let's dive in and take a closer look:

1.What is Blue Beetle?
Blue Beetle is a veteran character in DC Comics, spanning three generations in history: Dan Garrett in 1939, Ted Kord in 1966, and Jaime Reyes in 2006. This film focuses on the third generation, Jaime Reyes.

Jaime Reyes is portrayed by Hollywood actor Xolo Maridueña. Born on June 9, 2001, Maridueña has Mexican, Cuban, and Ecuadorian heritage. He debuted in the 2012 comedy "Parenthood" and gained recognition in recent years for his role in the series "Cobra Kai."

Blue Beetle's abilities come from the "Scarab," an extraterrestrial creation of the Reach, designed for conquest. It parasitically controls its host's mind and is presented in the film as an AI voice assistant.

2.Pamera City
Similar to Metropolis and Gotham City, Pamera City is a fictional city in the DC universe, located in Texas. This city is specially designed for the movie and was introduced in "Blue Beetle" comics in February this year.

In the comic, Jaime Reyes resides in El Paso, Texas.

3.Kord Industries
In the trailer, Jaime Reyes visits Kord Industries for an interview and meets his crush, Jenny Kord. This character is an original creation for the movie and is likely related to the second Blue Beetle, Ted Kord, in the comics.

Jenny Kord is portrayed by Brazilian actress and model Bruna Marquezine. She has appeared in several Brazilian TV series and is also known for her romantic history with Brazilian soccer star Neymar.

Kord Industries is one of the most powerful companies in the DC universe, alongside Wayne Corp and Lex Industries. It's managed by the second Blue Beetle, Ted Kord, in the comics.

In the comics, Ted Kord is the only generation of Blue Beetle without superpowers and has not been parasitized by the Scarab. Similar to Batman, Ted relies on his exceptional inventiveness to create his unique suit. It remains uncertain whether the second-generation Blue Beetle will make an appearance in the film.

4.Big Belly Burger
Jenny hands Jaime a mysterious burger box, instructing him not to open it. Big Belly Burger is owned by DC's supervillain Lex Luthor and is frequently seen in various DC works. The mascot on the box pays tribute to the comic artist John Byrne.

Big Belly Burger has gained recognition in recent years for its frequent appearances in the CW “Arrowverse” television series.
5.The Scarab
The trailer shows a Blue Beetle-themed aircraft, likely inspired by the vehicle created by the second Blue Beetle. In the movie, it might be designed as a collaborative effort by Jaime Reyes and his family.

6.Victoria Kord
Victoria is an original character in the film and has been introduced into the comic canon this year. In the trailer, she threatens to reclaim her Blue Beetle, suggesting she might be the current owner of Kord Industries, aiming to misuse the Blue Beetle's power. This could explain why Jenny Kord wants Jaime to safeguard it.

Notably, this role was initially negotiated for Sharon Stone but later cast by Susan Sarandon.

7.The Indestructible Man
Carapax, the Indestructible Man, originates from the comics. His real name is Conrad Carapax, an archaeologist who competed with the first Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett.

After Dan Garrett's death, Conrad ventured to an island called Pago Island, where he discovered the ruins of Jarvis Ted's experiments. Attempting to activate the robot, he accidentally caused his demise, but his consciousness remained within the machine.

8.Blue Beetle Suits
Inside Jenny Kord's hidden base, you can spot two sets of Blue Beetle suits, designed in homage to the appearances of the first and second generations of Blue Beetle.

9.Batman

The trailer ends with a mention of Batman. According to DC President James Gunn, "Blue Beetle" is set in the new DC universe, indicating that this Batman won't be the familiar Ben Affleck version.
