Terrifying Films Based On Realism and Possibilities... Are the Real Scariest Things to Watch

The world of horror. Terrifying movies that rule the world and sparks nightmares where there should be peaceful dreams of Carrots that wants to high-five you. Jumps from when you're cat walks in minding its own business and causing it to spaz out and take off. Horror movies, mind you, are designed to get to you. Designed to be fearful in any instance where it used to be calm. When I think of scary stuff to watch, I don't think of one movie.

What do I mean by that? Well, think of a movie you saw where suspension of disbelief is there from start to finish. You know its not real, but those jump scares, those looks, the disgust, it all can still be scary. And to each their own of course. Like, for instance, Chucky. He's not friendly even though he likes to talk… alot. Would you not just pick him up and put him in the oven with a padlock on it for 3 hours? Many times, you think… “Why would they do that?” and "Why don't they just do this…"

Then you put a movie on like SAW, where a psychopath tortures people for a living. They just pick people up, lock them away, and either torture's them, or have them torture each other. Things get real, real fast because you know there are people out there murdering people, torturing people, making their worst fears come alive. It's real stuff, and it can happen in your country, your town, your street, next door… under your bed…. sorry.

Movies that stem and follow through with realism, you can't beat with Aliens or… Predator. I know, I know, I didn't toss the stone very far. Anyways, when you think scary, you should think of movies or even tv shows that stem from reality. For FILM, you got SCREAM. For TV SHOWS, you got THE LAST OF US. They can actually happen, and they are the ones they get you the most when it comes to realism.

“AHHHHHH, Its chucky!” Yeah, creep for sure, people got written off in the movie, but can it happen in real life?

“AHHHHHHH, its JAWS!” Yeah, now you got stuff that can happen. Sharks attacking people? Of course that happens. That stuff lingers for a long time because it can, will, and has happened.

Let's look at PSYCHO and what it's based on. Remember Ed Gein? Lets refresh that mind of yours. 1984, with possibly 40 kills, 2 guaranteed. How about DJeffrey Dahmer? What was it… 16? When you have a real murderer vs a movie about one, the only line is real vs fiction, with knowing one is filmed while the other… lets not touch on that one. Their is filmed murders too and that's not fun on your mind… too late?

Now lets look at JAWS. In 2022, more then fifty attacks. 2023, it was 65 to 70. Swimming in oceans, there is definitely risk (Low of course) to getting attacked. Even lower rate for being greeted by the reaper. And if you pull in TV Shows, such as THE LAST OF US? Yeah, the fungus stuff is real. It can happen, but it may never… but what if?

See, when you have that "WHAT IF" or “This happens already”, you have a film (Or show) that can trully scare more people knowing the end could be closer then most think. But many of us in some scenarios could be well off against zombies or a few other creatures that “Could” exist one day, or something lurking in the alley waiting for their moment because they just got laid off work, got divorced, got bullied and pushed into the corner… So when asked, what is the most terrifying film, its the ones that can happen. The ones that are based on real stories, true events… It's those, that should terrify anyone.

The true stories always get to me more. Not a horror film, but when the Coen Brothers put the true story title card in front of Fargo, I'm sure it allowed the movie to have a greater effect on people. Even if it was a bit of a white lie.
