Pardoned Evil: Why ‘Adolescence’ Refused to Stare Into the Abyss

Adolescence dared to tackle misogyny and toxic masculinity—but in its eagerness to explain evil, it all but excused it. By fixating on the perpetrator and reducing the victim to a narrative footnote, the show made a disturbing choice: it empathized with the monster while turning away from the damage he caused. Two weeks ago, I published a critique of Adolescence on Peliplat. To my surprise, the article—questioning the show’s lack of focus on the victim’s perspective—sparked quite a bit of discus

5 Skits To Prime You For Friendship

If you're thinking of going to see Friendship, it might be advisable to prepare yourself for Tim Robinson's style of humour. He is not like other comedians. Perhaps you're familiar with his Netflix series, I Think You Should Leave, in which his comedic prowess is on full display. But, if you are completely new to Robinson, I've compiled my five favourite sketches from I Think You Should Leave. These should give you a sense of what to expect from Friendship. Please, enjoy them, and let me know in

The Eternaut: Different, But Not the Best

"A sci-fi that is not so sci-fi"—this was one of the reasons I listed The Eternaut as my most anticipated adaptation this year. After its release on Netflix, I began watching with very low expectations, repeatedly telling myself not to compare it to the original comic. After all, the original was published in 1957. Indeed, the opening impressed me—the director faithfully recreated the original plot and setting while transplanting them into our current era. Who wouldn't want to see a classic stor

The Ugly Stepsister: Why Are Women Still Suffering for Beauty?

Yes, we have another movie adaptation of "Cinderella." But relax, it isn't by Disney again this time around. Instead, it's by a young Swedish director called Emilie Blichfeldt, and the film is titled "The Ugly Stepsister". If Disney's "Cinderella" is a romantic story about true love and kindness, then "The Ugly Stepsisterr" is everything opposite of that: a dark tale about desire and evil. While it followed the original Cinderella plot, the perspective shifted to the stepsister's point of view,

The Lack of Friday the 13th Movies: A Deep Analysis into What is Going On

Friday the 13th is a well known franchise of slasher that debuted in 1980 and since then… there‘s been sequels, remakes and spinoff. But more than a decade has passed and Jason Voorhees hasn‘t seen in any capacity. The answer…? It‘s not the lack of interest or demand that the franchise had, it‘s because there has been a legal battle between the creators and producers. THE LEGAL BATTLE The ongoing battle lies in the fight between who owns the rights for the movies. In 2016, Victor Miller, the ori

Dear Thunderbolts*,

Dear Thunderbolts*, My name is Filip Kovacevic. I’m writing this letter because my power is out for the fifth time this week, and I’m positive it is because of whatever those shadows were. I have some questions that I need answers to. My friend somehow convinced me to start reading some conspiracy theory websites in the rare times I still have power. At first, it all seemed insane; some articles talked about the shadow dimension actually originating from Sentry. How could that be possible? Sentr

We don't need more Criminal Minds!

I love Criminal Minds. Ask any of my friends. I rewatch it at least once a year. Not the whole thing, because some of the episodes I've simply seen too many times to be surprised by the twists and turns anymore, but I always go back to it. The first time I watched it, I watched ten seasons of it in a month—this coincided with my final exams in high school, which was obviously a super wise choice on my part. I always found the episodes that are about children to be the most chilling, and now that

Isn't It a Shame They Stopped Making Game of Thrones After Season 6?

These past few Sundays, I’ve found unexpected comfort in the familiar static and hum of the HBO intro before The Last of Us. It brings me back to a simpler time — a time when that iconic logo was immediately followed by Ramin Djawadi’s unforgettable Game of Thrones theme. What a golden era of television that was. It’s wild to think HBO just... stopped making Game of Thrones after Season 6. No warning, no final bow — just six (mostly) spectacular seasons and then radio silence. A shame, really. E
