Oscars Are "Moving Away" From Original Song Performances and I'm Devestated

In a break from tradition, the original song category will forgo live performances of the nominated songs — a staple of Oscars ceremonies past. Instead, the show will spotlight the songwriters through personal reflections and behind-the-scenes insights from the creative teams behind the music.” – Variety

I hate this news. The performances of original song at the Oscars are a highlight of the show! Who could forget last year's performance of “I'm Just Ken”? Why are they doing this?? I want to see Timmy sing his Dylan! I guess he's doing that on SNL… but still! Gutted by this.

This is kind of tragic. I'm interested in the behind-the-scenes, sure, but the Oscars are first and foremost a show. Hell, the only reason I watch the Oscars and the Tonys is for their entertainment value - I *need* the comedy and campy performances to care.
