Initially aspiring to be a baseball player, Clooney shifted to acting after a failed sports career, moving to Los Angeles at 21. He began with minor television roles before gaining prominence as Dr. Doug Ross on the acclaimed medical drama ER (1994-1999). Clooney's film career took off with roles in Batman & Robin (1997) and Out of Sight (1998). He gained critical acclaim with Three Kings (1999) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000). His portrayal of Danny Ocean in the Ocean’s Eleven trilogy (2001, 2004, 2007) solidified his status as a leading man. Venturing into directing, Clooney debuted with Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002). He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Syriana (2005) and was nominated for directing and screenwriting for Good Night, and Good Luck (2005). His other notable films include Michael Clayton (2007), The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009), and The Ides of March (2011). Clooney continued to direct with The Monuments Men (2014) and Suburbicon (2017), and starred in Gravity (2013), The Midnight Sky (2020), and The Tender Bar (2021). He received the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2015 and a Kennedy Center Honor in 2022. Clooney also co-starred with Julia Roberts in Ticket to Paradise (2022) and produced Argo (2012). Married to Amal Alamuddin since 2014, Clooney has two children, Alexander and Ella.
