The Blacklist reaches a critical moment in its fourth season, which is crucial for its development. However, the season's start isn't very smooth. The rebooted storyline lacks the richness and sharp pace of the past, feeling like a rookie soldier not fully prepared for battle. It remains to be seen whether the new dad coming from the world of black-on-black crime can bring us more surprises. But time is ticking; after all, the audience's loyalty is not guaranteed.

The first third of the season, with its petty and chilling main storyline, has overshadowed the originally outstanding episodic cases, resulting in a much dimmer spiritual atmosphere in the early episodes. This is especially evident in the dull character relationships and the protagonist's grumpy, deceitful behavior. I've hesitated between giving it 5 stars in previous seasons, but this time, I'm settling for 3 stars to vent my frustration. What used to be a long-running story accumulating emotions and expectations now seems somewhat lackluster. The latter part of the season feels much better.
