This film provides a softer and more private perspective on the moon landing. It boasts remarkable sound design, handheld cinematography, and ample subjective viewpoints to minimize the distance between the viewers and on-screen characters. As a result, the successes and failures of missions are particularly gripping, butoccasionally overdramatic. The final sentimental flourish also falls into cliché. The perspectives of family and society add depth to the film but somewhat diminish the emotional impact. It should garner numerous Oscar nominations in technical categories: sound, cinematography, score, and editing are all exceptional.
