Sam Worthington and Jason Clarke are set to lead the cast in Warwick Thornton’s Aboriginal epic titled ‘First Warrior.’

The film boasts a talented Australian creative team and narrates the tale of the Aboriginal hero Pemulwuy, who spearheaded a 12-year struggle against British colonization. Prominent Australian filmmaker Warwick Thornton has agreed to direct "First Warrior," an epic feature film centered on the story of Aboriginal resistance fighter Pemulwuy. Australian stars Sam Worthington (known for "Avatar" and "Hacksaw Ridge") and Jason Clarke (from "Oppenheimer" and "Zero Dark Thirty") are set to take on lead roles, while a search is currently underway for the actor to portray Pemulwuy. Pemulwuy, a Bidjigal man from the Sydney tribes, led a 12-year resistance against British settlers encroaching on his people's ancestral lands during the colonization of Australia in the late 1700s. Thornton, one of Australia's most respected directors, gained recognition in 2009 when his debut film, "Samson & Delilah," won the Camera d'Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival. His 2017 film, "Sweet Country," earned the Special Jury Prize at Venice, and his latest project, "The New Boy," starring Cate Blanchett, premiered at Cannes last year. "First Warrior" has the backing of the Bidjigal, Dharawal, and Dharug Elders, and features an all-Indigenous core creative team, including Thornton, writer Jon Bell ("The Moogai," "Cleverman"), and writer-producer Andrew Dillon ("Le Champion," "Outliers"). Dillon, a direct descendant of the Dharug and Gomeroi peoples, will produce "First Warrior" through his company, That’s-A-Wrap Productions, which is an Indigenous First Nations-owned and operated production house. The screenplay is crafted by a talented Australian writing team, featuring BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Stuart Beattie ("Collateral," "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl"), Phillip Noyce ("Rabbit-Proof Fence," "Salt"), and Shana Levine ("The Portable Door," "Charlie & Boots"). “I am incredibly honored to be part of this remarkable film. It tells an important story with an outstan

HBO's The Penguin: A Gangsters Tale

In 2022 I went to see The Batman in theater with zero expectations, and left being blown away by Matt Reeves grounded take on the Caped Crusader. He took the Batman back to his detective roots and crafted a gritty, Neor mystery, thriller that is arguably (yes a very BIG “arguably”) the best Batman film ever made. HBO's The Penguin is a spin-off of Matt Reeves The Batman and begins exactly where th

Bob Woolsey: I really wish I didn't have multiple eras of Batman sagas under my belt when I watched The Batman. I could recognise the masterful filmmaking at work, but all I kept thinking about was why the hell I was watching yet ANOTHER take on Batman. That said, I did feel that Colin Farrell's performance was a huge standout and I'm excited to watch this show.

Serena Cuoghi: I didn't even know about this series. Thanks for introducing it to me Stephan, I'll sign it up! I am really liking the way in which your writing is maturing at great speed, you are a wonderful communicator. When I see the series I will be able to contribute to the debate of the arguments, but I know that your good judgment will not disappoint me.
