A rather controversial film because it deals with a topic very similar to Epstein Island, and at a very complicated social moment because in those weeks the famous Epstein list came to light, bringing more attention to this rather interesting film.
SPOILER ALERT!
If we delay further, let's get to the point.
Blink Twice is an American dark comedy and psychological thriller film directed by Zoë Kravitz in her directorial debut, from a script she co-wrote with E.T. Feigenbaum. The film has an ensemble cast consisting of Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat. Released August 23, 2024, When tech mogul Slater King meets waitress Frida at his fundraising gala, sparks fly.
He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation to his private island. A true paradise. Wild nights blend with sun-drenched mornings, and everyone has a great time. No one wants the trip to end, but when strange things start happening, Frida senses something is wrong there. She'll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of the party alive. Up until this point, I was so caught up in the plot that I couldn't even blink to make sure I didn't miss a thing.
And this is where the plot's downward spiral begins, in my opinion. There is such a great suspense in the plot and a mystery present to be discovered by the viewer, already when the protagonists understand how to counteract the effects of amnesia, I really expected a more raw and graphic scene that would show me more of the suffering and pain of the protagonists and that would make me empathize even more, depending on how sensitive you are to graphic scenes you will understand my point or it will seem stronger than I expressed it. The ending in the house on fire with most of the perpetrators dead giving him a little taste of his own medicine seems fair to me, but to me it seems a bit wasted the fact that the antagonist who acted in a phenomenal way will remain alive and as a puppet, and almost forgot the magical way in which the maid who knows the secret to remember is only seen by the girls but ignored by the rest of the bullies.
I have mixed feelings about the ending, because the empowerment of the girl as she now becomes an industry mogul and the man as a mindless slave seems very wasteful to me and takes away many points from the film.
In my personal opinion, up until the middle of the film, it's a resounding 8 or 9, but then throughout the entire plot, it reaches a 6. And well, that has been my opinion; if it's a good film, then YES, someone recommended you see it. Indeed, but you'll be like me; you'll leave with a bad taste in your mouth and wishing it could have been much better.
Thanks for reading, and if you liked my observation, leave me a powerful like, thank you ❤️
