The Inevitable Decline of Marvel

Spoilers

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Frenzy has been released. It not only announced Marvel's return to the big screen but also likely become a watershed in the decline of Marvel movies.

We can not help to ask how did Marvel get to today?

Constructing the universe is nothing new. Marvel and DC did it in the comics.

Bound characters and actors deeply, open up the relationship between different movies, and connect small universes into a big universe, so that our favorite characters will exist forever, even if they are just in backgrounds.

Transforming the comic universe into a movie universe is easier said than done.

In the first three stages, Kevin Feige, the helmsman of Marvel Studios, did a lot of work that the audience couldn't see.

The first is to adjust the force value of the character.

Weaken who should be weakened and enhance who should be enhanced. It ensures that characters fight in a good looking on the same platform.

The second is to establish the style of the main universe.

The good price also lies in setting the tone of the "Avengers series" early.

Marvel cleverly found the greatest commonality of all the characters. No matter how different the style of the single-superhero movies, they came together when they assembled, they came together to the home field of “Iron Man”.

The third is to produce explosive products as many as possible.

The "Reunion Series" needless to say, pushes the story of each stage to the climax.

"Iron Man", "Captain America 2", "Guardians of the Galaxy"... Marvel anchored the MCU foundation with highlight moments. Even if some other films were not so exciting, they would not bother fans.

The fourth is to keep laying the groundwork and play a big game from the beginning.

The main plot is subtly broken up and placed in the corners of the MCU.

There are indeed good and bad movies individually, but as a whole, the pursuit of linkage itself has become part of the fun.

Finally, and most importantly, Marvel has created too many classic characters.

I still remember that one year, Marvel spent a lot of money on a commercial at the Super Bowl, which was to let Iron Man look at the screen.

A character is an aspect of the MCU. Many characters loved by the audience make up the huge universe.

The point that Marvel once attracted us can answer the problems Marvel is facing now.

After Iron Man and Captain America retired, the Big Six fell apart in the first stage.

Although Thor, Hawkeye, and Hulk are still in the universe, they are all marginalized.

Maybe Marvel realized that MCU bound to certain actors is dangerous. It will be restricted whether in salary negotiation or future layout.

Old characters will still appear, but it is a routine operation to attract newcomers.

Hawkeye and Hulk have designated successors. "Black Panther 2" not only handed over the second generation of Black Panthers but also led to Aquaman and Heart of Steel. Even the third generation of Black Panthers is arranged. "Ant-Man 3" also has three generations of Ant-man in one film.

MCU in the fourth stage not only has no main line but also has no main characters. No one can stand in the C position without any controversy.

At this stage, there are neither"Avengers" to give an end nor a blockbuster. It is messy and flat.

Marvel does not keep the good tradition of making films, but forces on easter eggs.

"Three Spiders in the Same Frame", "Parallel Universe", "X-Men Returning", and "Uncle Wolf Joining"... are made for gimmicks to sell. However, the scripts were ignored.

Of course, Marvel scripts are not easy to write. The big frame is fixed. But in some ways, Marvel movie scripts are easy to complete. Because they all have the same plot, and you just need to change the shell. It's done.

After dozens of works, no matter how many fresh stories have been written.

As long as the box office does not collapse, the path will not stop.

So the MCU movies are called self-tribute or self-plagiarism, which depends on how much you love Marvel.

“X-Men” of 20th Century Fox and "Spider-Man" of Sony, superimposed the impact of the 911 terrorist attacks, setting off a wave of comic reform at the stage.

These movies focus on the MCU construction, the special effects, and the stars, but not on screenwriters and directors. There are good movies but not many. More of them are industry works with soul.

Martin Scorsese once criticized Marvel movies. Because Marvel’s savage growth sucked too many nutrients from the film industry, not only funds but also filmmakers.

If all good filmmakers are in Marvel movies, how boring the film industry will be?

Of course, Marvel has a reason for its existence. But it will eventually come to an end. The flourishing superhero movies have also passed their peak.

The process of decline may be slow, but the trend is unstoppable.

This is a law. There is no reason to say it and no need for any nostalgia.

Because the next popular movie genre will continue to lead the industry forward.

Marvel has moved us.

Having love is enough.

It's a pity for DC Films. Many people lost interest before the new universe started.
