Unrated Kaiju

Kaiju, which is not officially classified by the authorities, is abbreviated as Unrated Kaiju and is primarily a creature from peripheral comics and novels.

1. Trespasser

Invasion Date: August 11, 2013

Height: 92 meters (302 feet)

Weight: 2700 tons

Speed: 7

Strength: 5

Armor: 4

Toxicity: Moderate

Primary Attack Location: San Francisco

Major Feats: Destruction of San Francisco

Image description

Behavioral Traits:

Trespasser, scientifically named Axe-Head, earned its name after its first attack on Earth through the "Breach/Portal" in 2013. It appeared near the Golden Gate Bridge, destroying it and three San Francisco cities, marking the Kaiju invasion's beginning.

Outcome:

Initially, the U.S. military and the Royal Air Force launched multiple attacks on Trespasser. Still, after a week of ineffective attempts, a nuclear bomb was used in Oakland to eliminate it. However, the city was left contaminated by Trespasser's blood, turning Oakland into a dead zone. The Trespasser's skull was displayed when the military cleaned up the aftermath. Initially, the attack was considered a spontaneous event similar to a Godzilla-like mutation. However, a few months later, the second Kaiju attack occurred in Manila.

2. Scissure

Invasion Date: May 2014

Primary Attack Location: Sydney

Source: Official comic "Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero"

Image description

Behavioral Traits:

Scissure walks on four limbs, has bat-like wings, can fly, and is highly toxic. It has a large head with a mouth similar to Otachi's, capable of emitting a blue light.

Outcome:

Scissure was part of the first wave of Kaiju to arrive on Earth, invading during the fourth historical invasion. It destroyed half of Sydney, leading the military to use a nuclear bomb several miles away to kill it, preventing contamination of the city.

3. Karloff

Invasion Date: April 23, 2015

Primary Attack Location: Vancouver

Major Feats: First Kaiju defeated by a Jaeger

Source: Official comic "Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero"

Image description

Behavioral Traits:

Karloff is thinner than its siblings, seemingly belonging to a higher Kaiju level, although official body parameters are not provided. Its most notable features are its tall, thin body, gray skin with red shoulders, back, and palms, and a long, slender head with two pairs of eyes, resembling a giant Frankenstein monster.

Outcome:

The Pan Pacific Defense Corps discovered Karloff's movements and prepared for its arrival in Vancouver. At the time, the first-generation Jaeger Brawler Yukon was still in the experimental stage, and this battle was more of a military test. It was the first time human Jaegers were deployed in actual combat. Karloff was killed by Brawler Yukon's missiles, becoming the first Kaiju defeated by a Jaeger. This victory boosted the confidence of the Jaeger Program, marking the beginning of the Jaeger-Kaiju battles.

(Karloff's design is based on Frankenstein's monster, and its name comes from Boris Karloff, who played Frankenstein's monster in the 1931 film "Frankenstein.")

4. Meathead

Primary Attack Location: South China Sea

Source: Official comic "Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero," novel

Image description

Behavioral Traits:

Meathead resembles a skinny-headed cow with two curved horns and a scythe-like bone on its tail, all green.

Outcome:

This bizarre creature only appears on the cover of the comic version illustrated by Alex Ross, who is engaged in combat with China's first Jaeger, Horizon Brave, which might have defeated it.

5. Reckoner

Invasion Date: 2016

Primary Attack Location: Hong Kong

Source: "Pacific Rim" film

Image description

Outcome:

Reckoner appeared briefly in the film, attacking Hong Kong in 2016 before being killed, contaminating the land with its blood. However, nine years later, a significant shantytown appeared near its remains, and Reckoner's skull was turned into a temple. This area became a gathering place for a cult worshiping Kaiju. In the film, the character played by Ron Perlman, Hannibal Chau, frequently roamed here, engaging in the black market trade of Kaiju organs.

6. Kaiceph

Invasion Date: 2014

Primary Attack Location: Manila

Virtual Kaiju

These Kaiju are part of the simulation training at the Jaeger Academy, providing students with simulated attack training, all from the comics.

1. Verocitor

It resembled a giant monitor lizard with mighty jaws and was highly toxic. In the simulation, Raleigh Becket destroyed it using plasma.

Image description

2. Belobog

Resembling a giant beetle with armored skin, its lethal weapon is a tongue that can penetrate a Jaeger's cockpit. The Becket brothers established a connection through the "Drift" system in the simulation. Yancy Becket, distracted after sharing memories with his brother Raleigh and realizing they both liked the same girl, led to the failure of the simulation as Belobog destroyed the Jaeger.

Other Types

1. Baby Kaiju

The offspring of pregnant Otachi was born with aggression. Its skin is smooth and semi-transparent, resembling a thin membrane. It would grow into a terrifying Otachi from its appearance, but the larvae are temporarily non-toxic. It's worth noting that Otachi is viviparous, with the larvae attached to an umbilical cord.

Image description

2. Kaiju Skinmite

A parasitic organism that resides in Kaiju. It is likely an alien species that hitchhiked to Earth with the Kaiju. Kaiju Skinmites look like mites, with milky-white skin and large, pincer-like mandibles used to gnaw on the Kaiju's muscle tissue. Despite having ten legs, they crawl pretty slowly.

Image description

Kaiju Skinmites are almost non-aggressive, leading black market traders led by Hannibal Chau to target them, claiming that these creatures can cure diseases. However, Kaiju Skinmites cannot survive long except in the amino liquid environment inside a Kaiju. Once the host dies, the Skinmites die shortly after. To keep them alive, Hannibal Chau had the idea to soak Kaiju Skinmites in ammonia to preserve their lives, selling the live insects for a higher price.

Kaiju in Official Novel

The official novel recounts the illustrious achievements of the Jaegers before the events depicted in the film, listing the names and locations of the defeated Kaiju. However, the names of these Kaiju are peculiar, being named in the local language wherever they appeared.
