The Worst Movies of 2025.... SO FAR!

Well, it‘s time of the year that I put together a list of the worst movies of the year, and it‘s been a rough year. Don‘t hate the taste, enjoy the ride and ready for the upcoming storm.

Here we go:

UNTIL DAWN

Image description

Until Dawn made a wonderful impression with the videogame community when it was first released, even the storyline has some really cool concepts, but when the movie adaptation was announced and David Sandberg signed on to direct, the project seemed to be in good hands, because Sandberg directed some really well deserved horror movies.

The movie failed to capture the mystery, the tone and the creepy aspect of the videogame, and instead we have a story full of so many cliches tropes, the performances are underwhelming and it shows that Sandberg was passionate about the project, but the script let him down in a big way.

WOLF MAN

Image description

Leigh Whannell is an unsung hero in the horror community and he has been in charged of the Saw, Insidious and Upgrade franchises, and after The Invisible Man, Universal was in a good streak and Leigh wanted to adapt this story, so bad.

But.. everything changed…. when the first look of the full creature leaked online and created some controversy about the final transformation. The movie captures the tension pretty well, but the script fails in telling a good story combined with family dynamics. Also, the creature design is not that well made and left out too many things. This could‘ve been an awesome movie, but it failed to capture that creepiness by the third act.

Hurry Up Tomorrow

Image description

Hurry Up Tomorrow was made to promote the album of the same name by The Weeknd and directed by Trey Edward Shults and the story follows a singer who has a mental breakdown and goes into an odyssey with a young girl. This movie was so bad in many aspects, there‘s not even a storyline to follow, the characters are there to exist, there‘s no actual a single thing coherent in this. Even, the performances are commited, but there‘s nothing in this empty story. The only thing good about this movie is the awesome cinematography, but other than that, it feels like another attempt to showcase that Abel is more than just a singer.

Anyways, this could be released in Youtube with the album, and it could‘ve work.

FLIGHT RISK

Image description

Flight Risk was a complete dissapointment, because Mel Gibson directed this and it feels like he was just because of the easy paycheque and it shows, because despite having a story where the killer is the pilot and they don‘t have escape because they are mid air, it‘s fun. But, nothing in the movie leads to any fun moments, it‘s just pure stupidity and a exaggerated Mark Wahlberg performance that I honestly think this was a phoned in performance and every decision the story takes, it‘s like a Reddit user made up this, nothing is salvagable, not even the lack of hair of the villain.

LOVE HURTS

Image description

Despite the commited performance of Ke Huy Quan and the awesome stunt choreography, Love Hurts failed to build a sufficient interesting storyline to grant more sequels and this was the action vehicle for Quan and the film simply didn‘t do anything. Some of the character‘s personalities doesn‘t add up, lack of logical sense and how they tried so hard to sell the movie as an action comedy romantic drama film, but the film doesn‘t embrace any genre, in particular.

The Electric State

Image description

Oh, the Anthony Russo *Russo Brothers* delivered another movie for Netflix and this time was an adaptation of the book of the same name and has all kind of A-list actors in this, even just funny cameos. But, there‘s something curious about how The Russos have failed to achieve any movie outside of Marvel and they can‘t seem to crack the code. The Electric State is yet another misfire of ideas, zero chemistry between the leads and a thin storyline, only to show off the visual effects, but other than that, it‘s a movie without a soul or purpose and it lacks, drags and you contemplate why you choose this movie to watch.
