✨Brushstrokes of the plot

The story begins in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, in 1980 with the dark disappearance of a boy named Will Byers.

Scientists at the Hawkins National Laboratory accidentally released a strange creature while trying to open a portal to another dimension. The creature kidnapped 12-year-old Will Byers and a local teenager, Barbara "Barb" Holland.
Will’s friends and family discovered what had happened to them with the help of Eleven, a girl with powerful telekinetic and telepathic abilities derived from "MKUltra Project", a government secret of surprising and terrifying scope.
Will was rescued by his mother, Joyce Byers, and local police chief Jim Hopper, who risked entering the Upside Down (an alternate reality) to bring him back home.

With the help of Will’s best friends, Lucas Sinclair, Mike Wheeler and Dustin Henderson, they discovered a way to amplify Eleven’s powers and use them to track down his friend. Meanwhile, Will’s older brother, Jonathan Byers, along with his high school classmates Nancy Wheeler (Mike’s older sister) and Steve Harrington, set a trap for the creature, which friends of Will nicknamed “The Demogorgon.”

Supernatural forces begin to affect Hawkins. Will’s disappearance was just the beginning.
